2026 Department of Chemical Engineering Research Showcase

Thursday, September 24, 1–7 p.m.
Nanoengineering and Sciences Building, Room 181 and the Commons
Seattle Campus

About the Event

The Research Showcase aims to create an intellectual nexus for current researchers in the Department of Chemical Engineering to share their work with our colleagues, industry and regional partners, and alumni.

This showcase provides graduate and postdoctoral researchers an opportunity to practice their presentation skills to a highly interdisciplinary audience and gain valuable feedback from people both in and outside of academia. Moreover, the event serves as a forum in which industry representatives can share their experience, discuss cutting edge research directions and impact, and get to know the current and next generation of scientists and engineers in ChemE.

The symposium includes an industry keynote speaker, a panel composed of UW ChemE M.S. and Ph.D. alumni in industry, and student talks. We will conclude the event with a reception and graduate student posters showcasing the latest research in biotechnology, healthcare, energy and sustainability, materials, computation, and data science.

History of the Event

The Association of Chemical Engineering Graduate Students (ACES) has organized and led an annual Graduate Student Symposium (GSS) since 2008, showcasing current research by graduate students in the Department of Chemical Engineering at UW. The event has long served as a platform organized for graduate students by graduate students and it remains that way to this day. In an effort to increase the visibility of the cutting-edge research our graduate students are doing in ChemE, we are expanding the footprint of the annual GSS to a Department Research Showcase for alumni, industry and regional partners as well as prospective and current M.S. and Ph.D. students, postdoctoral fellows and faculty.
