A new publication led by Dr. Elizabeth Nance illustrates the potential of a novel method for protecting the brain from ongoing damage following a neonatal brain injury. The paper, titled Nicotinamide-Loaded Peptoid Nanotubes for Energy Regeneration in Acute Brain Injury, was published in ACS Nano earlier this month. It is the result of a collaboration between UW Chemical Engineering, UW Pediatrics and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The study is innovative in its field for bringing a highly technical concept from the design phase all the way to in vivo demonstration of the effect. Hui Du, Renyu Zheng, Haoyu Wang and Dr. Chun-Long Chen, all from the Department of Chemical Engineering, are co-authors on the paper.
