"A good mentor listens to their students' needs, a great one helps them overcome adversity, and a phenomenal one does all that and brings in her students to be part of the solution."

Lilo Pozzo empowers her students to turn ideas into meaningful goals they can accomplish. She leads project-based learning curriculum that provides students with real-world experience before they graduate. Working closely with Lilo, three student-led teams have gone on to raise more than $2.5 million in outside funding to launch start up companies. Following the devastation of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, she mobilized a team of students to travel to the island and research what health issues arise in the absence of electrical power. During two visits, her team installed twenty solar cell and battery systems to power medical storage, feeding pumps, apnea machines and oxygen concentrators. "A good mentor listens to their students' needs, a great one helps them overcome adversity, and a phenomenal one does all that and brings in her students to be part of the solution."
