ChemE Produces 4 Dean's Medalists in 6 Years

The College of Engineering announced on Monday that ChemE senior Thao Nguyen was selected as one of two recepients of the 2016 Dean's Medal for Academic Excellence

The award recognizes Thao's extraordinary achievements as a UW Chemical Engineering student. Thao has a stellar academic record and is conducting research under the direction of Prof. John Berg, who notes that she ranks in the top 5% of undergraduate researchers he has supervised in 51 years of teaching. Ms. Nguyen also serves as a tutor, excelled at her industrial internship, and is characterized by her peers as a caring classmate. Her goal is to become a Chemical Engineering Professor. We have no doubt she will become an outstanding educator and researcher.

ChemE has produced four Dean's Medalists in the last six years:

2011: Melanie Drake
2012: Emily Hollenbeck
2014: Rainie Nelson
2016: Thao Nguyen
