The Annual Bruce A. Finlayson Lecture
The lecture, named in honor of Dr. Bruce A. Finlayson, Rehnberg Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering, is held annually and features distinguished chemical engineers who demonstrate exceptional scholarship, teaching, and service in their field.
The Inaugural Bruce A. Finlayson Lecture will take place on Tuesday May 28, 2013 at 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the HUB Lyceum. Please join the department in welcoming former Chemical Engineering Professor and current President of the University of Minnesota Eric W. Kaler as he presents "The Future of the American Research University."
Department Seminar Series
The Department Seminar Series brings a variety of academic and industrial professionals to give presentations on their areas of research and expertise. Held during the Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters, these free lectures are held on Monday from 4 to 5 p.m. in Physics Astronomy Auditorium, A110 unless otherwise indicated.
Distinguished Young Scholars Summer Seminar Series
Back for its second year, the department will host the “2012 Distinguished Young Scholars Summer Seminar Series”. Graduate students and postdocs from around the nation will come to Seattle and present their research at the weekly lecture series held at the University this summer.
Leadership Seminar
The Leadership Seminar provides a forum for industrial, academic and government leaders to share their background insights with undergraduate and graduate students. Speakers and students will have an opportunity to discuss topics related to leadership in the chemical engineering profession including career planning, management skills, interpersonal skills, effective planning, entrepreneurship, ethics, and strategic decisions. Graduate Symposium
The Chemical Engineering Graduate Student Symposium provides graduate students the opportunity to present their work to representatives from industry. For industry representatives this event is a chance to meet future research leaders and see them present the exciting work being done at UW.
