Welcome to Chemical Engineering!

The UW Department of Chemical Engineering offers an integrated research and education experience to approximately 130 undergraduate and 70 graduate students. The department has 14 full-time faculty members who generate annual research expenditures of $5.7 million. Together, students and faculty examine the science and engineering of molecular and nanoscale systems that lie at the heart of:

biochemical engineering

surface and interfacial science
polymeric materials
organic and molecular electronics
numerical methods
computational chemistry
electrochemical engineering and energy conversion
environmental remediation
process control

We participate in a large number of interdisciplinary collaborations with joint and adjunct faculty appointments in Bioengineering, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, Microbiology, and Paper Science and Engineering.
